When a woman has hormone-dependent breast cancer after menopause, she is typically prescribed this medication. Sometimes it might also be used to stop breast cancer, to treat breast cancer in men, as a fertility treatment in younger women before menopause, if you are at high risk and have undergone menopause, or if you have polycystic ovary syndrome.
